‘saturday night live’ was never that big in england – i think it is still aired on satellite channels. i used to watch it up to around 1992 when it was on the sky network. a stand out episode was the kyle maclachlan hosted episode where ‘twin peaks’ was lampooned. i don’t think it has been relevant since the early ’90s. i’ve watched some of the SNL films you mention, and ‘wayne’s world’ is the last watchable one in my opinion. i’ve been shown some more recent episodes by a mate of mine and it seems that if they can get one laugh out of a joke, they repeat it ad nauseam; thus diluting the original joke.
