The Cover Girls formed in 1987 and are still a "dance" music group today, although they've had many lineup changes. Here they are 20 years ago, as we saw them, and today (as well as website links).

I've seen two out of the 23 James Bond movies (<i>Thunderball</i> and <i>Casino Royale</i>). I have a lot of catching up to do!

Dennis, you saw <i>Twilight</i>, right? Was it good? How was Kristen Stewart?

Good show as always. You hit the Quantam of Solace review, right on the head. I felt it was more like a Bourne movie, not a Bond movie. They need to add Bond's witty quips in the next film. The villain (the French guy), is a pretty good actor, but he seemed really wimpy in the film. My top 3 Bond movies are: Goldfinger, The Spy who Loved Me, and Casino Royale. I have a soft spot for A View to a Kill since it was the first Bond movie, I ever saw. On Her Majesty's Secret Service was surprisingly not bad. George Lazenby gets a bad rap sometimes. With the exception of Goldeneye, Brosnan's Bond movies aren't that great.

Thanks Jack! We’ve been having problems with Greg’s audio recently. I can’t find a Skype recording program that’s compatible with the 64-bit version of Windows Vista, which is what my new computer came with. They’re all programmed for the 32-bit version.

We’ll use a different, better recording technique going forward…at least until someone creates a 64-bit Skype recording program. Someone, anyone, please!

Another solid installment, fellas! The sleeved blanket cracked me up. The Ghost Son bit was in wonderfully bad taste, helped by the double-outdatedness of the movie and the crime in question. (But of course tragedy + time = ....)

Isn't open-mindedness the basic concept behind science? Not accepting fairy tales told to us and searching for real explanations? Not believing that diseases can't be cured, problems can't be overcome? I put my full faith in science.

One gripe about the episode: Greg's audio was crummy. I hadn't noticed that in the previous episodes I've heard. You could hear everything he said, but there was annoying crackle/wobble kind of sound every few 5 seconds or so.

Maybe Sarah Palin should get one of those blankets!

Chad, thanks for listening! Maybe global warming exists, maybe it doesn't. Either way, shouldn't we take steps toward improving our environment? I don't want to live my life surrounded by litter, breathing poison smoke, and drinking dirty water, do you?

I also think it's bad news when fiction writers start believing the stuff they write. Stephen King doesn't believe that cars actually come to life and try to kill people.

You wrote that you enjoy our show. What are some things you like about it?

You guys are kinda closed minded when it comes to many things. Why do you accept spoon fed agenda science so easily? Because you like spoons perhaps. I enjoy your show, but open up to the possibility that Global Warming is a farce. At least question the complete lack of any credible evidence.

Here's a comparison someone did. The top ship is the new one. The middle ship is the one from The Original Series (1966). The bottom ship is the redesign for Star Trek The Motion Picture in 1979, and used for 6 movies. The new ship in the new movie is supposed to take place BEFORE The Original Series.

This new enterprise is terrible. It looks like they just took the saucer and deflector dish from the old movies, the hull from TNG, and the engines from the enterprise E and just slapped it all together. I don't understand why they allow a guy who supposedly disliked the original series to direct Star Trek.

They should have got the people responsible for this KFC commercial to do the movie:

Wow, nice discussion! I'll replace the Palin: Big Dummy picture tomorrow. I can't look at that giant balloon head anymore, either.

Dennis, I agree that people's personal beliefs shouldn't have anything to do with government policy. Religious fanatics should stay out of politics. What does religion have to do with national security, public education, health care, roads, or energy? Nothing.

Greg, I agree that the Republicans will eventually regain control. I just hope that when they do, they go easy on the military spending, oil drilling, privacy violations, scare tactics, and lieing.

Americans were smart enough to elect a forward-thinking President. Maybe someday soon they'll be smart enough to stop driving SUVs and eating Cheez Whiz, too.

Dennis,

You are right, the fear mongering no longer works. Especially when you are broke! However, there is still a near solid 40-45% of the electorate who are staunchly conservative and will not budge. The Center-Right coalition has been destroyed though by Bush. It might take 10 years, but they'll be back, you can count on it.

Was PETA involved in the Prop 2? I thought that was mainly the Humane Society of the US? I often give money to the HSUS and the ASPCA, but like you am ecstatic with Peta. Their investigations into the puppy mills and factory farming have been extremely worthy, but the lady who founded it is just way over the top and her, frankly, obsession is counterproductive.

And Rob, where are you, I said take that Palin picture down! Down I say!

Greg,

I meant that Evangelicals have lost the edge to influence a national election. Outside of California's repeal of gay marriage, which was only brought upon by heavy spending by Mormons (over 74 million!), and indifference by the people in the Bay Area it would not have passed, most of the props on the ballots were in deep red states. Colorado, NC, Virginia, Ohio all have strong evangelical communities and helped Bush in the last 2 elections. The same fire and brimstone speeches really had no effect this year. In NC, for example, AM radio is all gospel on Sunday, and once you go 10 miles west of Chapel Hill, it's all stars and bars and churches. These same people still voted for Obama! And Liddy Dole's godless attack aid on Kay Hagan fared miserably this year and cost her a Senate seat(which was Jesse Helm's no less!) Republicans can not cling to the bible if they want to have influence in the next 20 years or so. Even Michigan passed stem cell research and medicinal marijuana. We are not like Europe yet, but beliefs in mythological beings affecting present day legislation seems to be waning on a national level. Arkansas, Mississippi need not apply.

Prop 2 was good vote, although I buy only organic free range poultry and beef, so it doesn't affect me all that much. However, as a researcher I worry about PETA influence in animal testing. Without animal research, we would be living in stone age.
