Great show. Baseball cards and bitching about comcast. 2 of my favorite topics. Thanks for the mention in the previous show.
I have never understood why video gamers go crazy over games that realistically simulate war and driving, the most horrible and most mundane aspects of human existence. Here we have this technology that can take us to fantastic worlds of alien robots and dinosaurs and Darth Vaders and we’re using it to simulate driving buses.
Bus Driver! sounds like one of the many garbage games on the 2600. Totally pointless. One thing I never understand is the affinity for games where you are the bad guy. Whether GTA, where you commit crimes, or other games, where you play the villain.
Thanks for the shout out guys. Another thing I don’t understand about Japanese video games and I guess in anime as well is when your protagonist is a 14 year old silent effeminate male, who is also general of the entire armed forces for that side. I like the Final Fantasy series, but all the main characters are of that variety. I remember watching Gundam Wing in college and two teenage boys became the leaders of the country. I mean, give me a break.
at least with the ‘masters of the universe’ film has ’80s kitsch appeal! shame it wasn’t based on the cartoon. i have a real soft spot for ‘the last starfighter’ and i don’t really know why – i suppose it’s just enjoyable schlock from my youth.
