You guys are kinda closed minded when it comes to many things. Why do you accept spoon fed agenda science so easily? Because you like spoons perhaps. I enjoy your show, but open up to the possibility that Global Warming is a farce. At least question the complete lack of any credible evidence.
Chad, thanks for listening! Maybe global warming exists, maybe it doesn’t. Either way, shouldn’t we take steps toward improving our environment? I don’t want to live my life surrounded by litter, breathing poison smoke, and drinking dirty water, do you?
I also think it’s bad news when fiction writers start believing the stuff they write. Stephen King doesn’t believe that cars actually come to life and try to kill people.
You wrote that you enjoy our show. What are some things you like about it?
Another solid installment, fellas! The sleeved blanket cracked me up. The Ghost Son bit was in wonderfully bad taste, helped by the double-outdatedness of the movie and the crime in question. (But of course tragedy + time = ….)
Isn’t open-mindedness the basic concept behind science? Not accepting fairy tales told to us and searching for real explanations? Not believing that diseases can’t be cured, problems can’t be overcome? I put my full faith in science.
One gripe about the episode: Greg’s audio was crummy. I hadn’t noticed that in the previous episodes I’ve heard. You could hear everything he said, but there was annoying crackle/wobble kind of sound every few 5 seconds or so.
Maybe Sarah Palin should get one of those blankets!
Thanks Jack! We’ve been having problems with Greg’s audio recently. I can’t find a Skype recording program that’s compatible with the 64-bit version of Windows Vista, which is what my new computer came with. They’re all programmed for the 32-bit version.
We’ll use a different, better recording technique going forward…at least until someone creates a 64-bit Skype recording program. Someone, anyone, please!
Rob,
Thanks for doing the show. I came to your show via the Overnightscape, and I enjoy your subjects and the conversation between you two. I get your point about cleaning up the world just for the sake of it and agree. I don’t remember what my problem was the day I wrote you. I was kinda being an a-hole, I don’t know why I wrote that note with so much attitude.
I mostly appreciate your journeys through our shared culture via your ramblings. The many things I was referring to, was that sometimes I get the feeling or jist, if you will, that you have a “Ahh-get-outta-here”
relfex to anything other than your personal view of culture. However, this too is entertaining. No reason for me to complain.
Thanks,
Chad
Hi Chad,
The Overnightscape…Frank is still going strong! I can’t believe he’s almost up to episode 800. Wow!
You’re right, Greg and I are often dismissive of things that are outside of our comfort zones. Then again, we both have some pretty strange and geeky comfort zones: video games, sci-fi, eating contests, old cartoons, old ridiculous wrestling shows, etc.
We’ll try to be a little more open minded, but when a man claims people can live to be 1,000 years old, it’s difficult to take that seriously. :)
i saw ‘ghost dad’ and ‘cop and a half’ back to back on telly one sunday afternoon. even though i was 22. that day is still burned on my mind. and it’s great the first film mentioned after michael crichton was ‘congo’ – such a guilty pleasure!
