Here’s a sample of the Batman 1960’s goof…
and Manhattan public access shows Star Crash and Wild Record Collection….
Keaton was a great comedian. I would take his films over Chaplan anyday.
Mel Blanc was under contract with Warner Bros. They could not get anyone else to do voices because of that. If you listen, he really couldn’t change his voice that much. He started on the Jack Benny show in the forties.
I did the Uncle Floyd Show between the years of 1974 and 1977, then that other cast took the show over. Yes Lennon watched me, lol. His signiture time slot was 6:00
I am happy you remembered Scott Gordon. Mugsy dies a few years back, Scott and I are still great friends.
Star Trek and Floys fans would go at it back and forth. The fans would flood channel eleven with lettersand they would take Trec off the air, then Treckies would respond and it would go back on. This continued for the whole time I was on the show. This also happened to Wonderama. Bob McCalister was the host of the four hour sunday kids show on channel five. Bob said some nasty things about the Floyd show. Wonderama soon started to get the letters from Floyd Fans. McCalister started to try and do the Floyd thing so he thought. He was nasty to the children in studio. The letters didnt stop. Wonderama went from four hours to a half hour then poof it was gone. You just didn’t mess with the Floyd fans.
I was Groucho, on several of these Floyd early tappings, then played in a few bits. I did twelve shows in all, four or five a year. It was fun to do and we even did a live extravaganza, a hour live show for a bank in Jersey, that was my show and Floyd was the guest along with Scott Gordon and a magician Lanzo the Great. It was live and we had five hundred people pack the place. The magic act did adult type magic but the kids didn’t care.
Greg, as our resident Star Trek fan, what do you think of Star Crash? There’s a 50 MB video clip on http://www.starcrash.com.
It has nothing to do with Star Trek. It’s almost all women in the cast. Reminds me of cheesy shows like Photon! Not terrible, considering its community access, but not one of the better examples of independent sci-fi stuff. The actors are obviously completely uncoached.
Yeah, Star Crash isn’t related to Star Trek, but it’s in the same vein. It’s entertaining, but not in the way the creators intended. Also, the background and special effects look like they were made in MS Paint. Is Esteban their CG guy?
The Animation work is pretty simplistic yes. Not to the level of fan films like Star Trek New Voyages. It’s amazing though the difference poor lighting and sound can have on low budget productions.
PS: I found out that the short fan film G.I. Joe Battle for the Serpent Stone, which we mentioned in episode 73 ages ago, is included on the Complete series DVD Set.
i have the american dvd release of ‘g.i. joe’ since the series was never big (if it at all aired – i don’t remember) and still unavailable in england. damn: on hearing the extras available for ‘transformers’ i may have to buy it again – i only have the UK vanilla release from over ten years ago. double dipped!
